Megan Hadfield (1994) is an artist and writer based in Amsterdam. In her practice Hadfield explores the relationship between language and cognitive experience. In dialogue with scenography and literary research she reimagines the exhibition format as a poetic environment in which the boundaries between reality and fiction become strange. Using video, installation and sound, Hadfield arranges individual fragments as a system that conditions the viewer as an implicit participant in the wider narrative. Rethinking the words which produce artworks, audience and place she tampers with historical objects in fictional settings. Hadfield is also active as part of the collective Brackish, researching the material politics of water reclamation.
